Getting to Know Miss Lauren

The December entry in Learning Ladder Academy’s Getting to Know You series is Miss Lauren.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy reading, hiking, going to concerts and spending time with my friends and family.

Why did you choose this career?

I chose this career because I had always taken care of my younger cousins and my nephew over the years. Not all children have someone in their corner and I would like to continue getting the opportunity to be that for a child.

Tell us about a favorite teaching moment or time with a child…

My favorite moments with children are when the younger ones begin to make their own connections such as needing to dump out their milk before throwing their cup away. It’s awesome watching them develop and seeing how proud they become of their own independence.

Favorite place you’ve been and why?

West Virginia! I got to go to white water rafting for a day and the following week I hiked to an overlook of the New River Forge where I rafted. It’s an absolutely beautiful state!

Best advice for parents:

When they’re younger it’s so easy to get lost in the frustrations of constant messes and tantrum, but play another goofy song and make the bedtime snuggles a little longer sometimes. They are only this little for so long, soak it up as much as you can!
