The June entry in Learning Ladder Academy’s Getting to Know You series is Miss Emilee.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I spend time with my friends and family. I love to read books, drink a ton of coffee, tell corny jokes and take naps!

Why did you choose this career?

I chose this career to help the future generations by teaching children right from wrong and their ABC’s and 123’s. It brings me much joy to know I’m helping the future survive. One day these kids will become our lawyers, astronauts, police and presidents!

Tell us about a favorite teaching moment or time with a child…

I had a child who just moved to my class who use to love saying words like “pop” “boom” and “bam”. I told him, “The words you like to say are called onomatopoeias.” From that day on he tried to say onomatopoeia until one day he said the word clear as day!

Favorite place you’ve been and why?

My favorite place is Jamaica. The water is beautiful and the food is amazing. It’s so peaceful and relaxing.

Best advice for parents:

Teach your children to be prepared. It’s not just for the Boy Scouts!
